In this release, the app adds a one-click view over the remote iOS system information, pop-up chat notifications when in background mode, a two-finger gesture for easier screen scrolling, session recording, improved screen sharing, and functionality customisation. “ISL Light iOS 3.2 is packed with more features and performance improvements where users need them most – quickly accessible system information of the mobile device in trouble to help direct the operator towards possible problems, and easier remote screen scrolling through added support for multi-finger gestures,” said Jure Pompe, ISL Online’s CEO. “This update introduces pop-up notifications with new chat messages when the app is running in the background, while it also considerably improves screen sharing and adds the possibility of recording a session when supporting an iOS device.”

Remote iOS system information
Already available on Windows, Mac and Linux, ISL Light has also added the one-click remote system information functionality to its iOS app for operators supporting remote iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices. Technical operators can now obtain a list with summarised vital information of the mobile device’s system, CPU, RAM, storage, battery and network status, along with the log file revealing information about possible remote connection troubles.

Session recording
Session recording is yet another feature that has been extended to the iOS. As the name suggests, it lets operators connected to a mobile device record support sessions for later playback, either for staff training or safety reasons. When connected, the operator only clicks on the session recording button in the toolbar, selects the folder to save, and starts recording.

Pop-up chat notifications
Communication between the operator and the mobile user has been much improved and flows now smoothly due to the new pop-up chat notifications. These facilitate smooth text based conversation in a normal support scenario – when the app is running in the background mode. Hence, when the mobile user leaves the ISL Light app and opens up another one or goes to the home screen or Settings, he/she keeps receiving the operator’s chat content in clickable pop-up notifications.

Easier screen scrolling on a remote deviceEasier screen scrolling
Accessing a desktop computer from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can now scroll the remote screen effortlessly thanks to the added support of multi-finger gestures. Operators connecting from a mobile device can scroll up and down a remote desktop screen similar to the touchpad gesture – with two fingers running up and down the mobile screen.

Screen sharing customisation applied to iOS
“GUI features”, the specially customised desktop sharing functionality that you might have and works nicely on desktop computers in SaaS (Hosted Service) and the self-hosted solution (Server License), has been enabled for iOS mobile devices as well. Either when supporting an iOS device or connecting from it, the ISL Light app will follow the functionality customisation set for particular operators, thus allowing or denying them to stream or view the desktop, control the remote desktop stream, control the shared desktop, receive or send files, etc.

Other improvements
The updated iOS remote desktop app improves support for the 64-bit ARM architecture, fixes the screen sharing codec, and brings other reported bug fixes and performance improvements.
