ISL Online, an enterprise remote desktop software provider, has recently released a completely renewed player, that goes hand in hand with their session recording functionality, enabling improved playback and management of recorded remote support and access sessions. The latest version of the player, renamed now into ISL Player 4.0, has a refreshed design and brings ISL Light’s fourth generation look and feel, plus a handful of new features for easier handling and editing of the recordings. ISL Player 4.0 is available free to all ISL Online users.
What’s new in ISL Player 4.0?
ISL Online users, particularly corporate clients, see session recording as one of the key features in a remote desktop tool and use it regularly for security, quality assurance, and training purposes.
• New design
The graphical user interface now matches the latest design of the ISL Online product family. It offers a number of new buttons for faster scanning and editing of a session recording.
• ‘Zoom in’ on the timeline
ISL Player 4 includes a handy timeline with an up to 500% zoom-in option, letting you edit recordings much easier and have an overall better control over the playback. To return from a zoomed-in view to the original view, you can zoom out quickly by clicking “Zoom to fit” button.
• Markers
Especially important for long recordings, you can now mark crucial points of the recording. Just add markers to your recording, which you can later quickly jump from one to another by using the “Next” and “Previous” buttons.
• Fast video scan
While previous versions of the player enabled only “Very fast playback”, that speeded up playback by four times, the new ISL Player adds a quick fast forward through a recording by dragging the timeline slider while holding down the SHIFT key.
To scan a recording even faster jumping one minute at a time, you can also hold the SHIFT key while scrolling the mouse wheel. Let’s see how fast scanning works:
• Video trimming
If you only need a part of a recording, you can simply trim the video and save it as a new file. Set the start and end point by using the opening and closing brace in the quick menu right above the timeline.
• Improvements for Mac and Linux users
Available only in Windows in previous versions, Mac and Linux users can now also open .isr recordings easily. When clicking on an .isr file, the recording automatically opens in the ISL Player.
Have a look at the release notes and see a complete list of new features and performance improvements for ISL Player 4.0.
Custom session recording format (.isr) for smaller file size and performance optimisation
Recorded files are written in a special highly compressed format .isr, which unique advantage lies in its small size. However, .isr files can easily be exported into the .avi format, but the latter will be significantly (up to 100 times) bigger in size than an .isr file with the same content.
Another reason why ISL Online uses custom session recording format (.isr) is that it enables to record streams directly from different session channels: audio, video, chat, and desktop sharing.
Lastly, by opening an original .isr file with the ISL Player, you are able to edit your recordings.
Now that you know all the great new features, download ISL Player 4.0 to play and edit your recordings.
Well, this was actually helpful but is there anything that can be installed as an app on devices for easy access? This makeover is actually helpful with that kind of set up and update.
