We are proud to announce the release of ISL Conference Proxy 4.3 for Windows and Linux with server-side modules for remote desktop and other collaborative services. ISL Online built a lot of value into the new version of the ISL Online backend server application, including a restyled “Join a Session” page, strengthened security and performance with an improved support of multi-factor authentication, and instant session joining for clients using mobile devices, while it also fixes a sizable list of small quibbles.
Rethinking session joining for clients
The first thing Server License users will notice with the updated server application ISL Conference Proxy 4.3 is a completely restyled “Join a Session” page for the clients that has been dressed up in the unified ISL Online white-and-green design. But it’s not only the visual part of the client pages that has been improved.
Responsive design
The version 4.3 brings a responsive design that looks good across all devices, big or small, since it enables the webpage to stretch and seamlessly adjust to fit the user’s screen. As such, the “Join a Session” page for clients works without a hitch on desktop computers, mobile devices and everything in between.

Responsive design provides an optimal user experience as it allows easy reading and navigation across a wide range of devices at minimal resizing, panning and scrolling.
Customising made easy
Customising the default “Join a Session” webpage for Server License owners is now based on a new template, which makes it easier to perform the customisation with, while it also supports seamless transitions between different versions of ISL Conference Proxy. In practice, you’ll need to reset your existing customisation after the upgrade, but it will remain intact after future upgrades.

Insert your logo, change the colours and change the workflows to fit the “Join a Session” webpage, intended for your clients, into your corporate branding.
Mobile support for joining a session
Clients* wanting to join a session from a mobile device (iOS or Android) can now simply tap on an invitation link sent via email. The system automatically recognises the user’s device and offers an appropriate mobile application (ISL Light for iOS from the App Store or ISL Light for Android from Google Play). The app opens with the right session code already entered, while everything the client needs to do is to just tap on the “Join Session” button and – voilà! – you are connected.

Upon following the invitation link in an email, the client enters into a remote support session by first tapping on ‘Start’, then ‘App Store’ or ‘Google Play’ whether on an iOS or Android device respectively, and lastly on ‘Join Session’. That’s it!
*This feature works currently on the Server License, but will soon be applied to the Hosted Service as well.
Stronger security, reliability and performance
As the online world is becoming progressively unsafe, a not-insignificant part of the 400 tested and resolved internal tickets related to the latest ISL Conference Proxy upgrade belongs to the strengthened security of ISL Online products. To this end, our efforts went mainly to securing both the user authentication and their communication during the connection by adding an initial back-end support for multi-factor authentication and multi-step authentication. Additionally, the security setting defaults have been improved by removing the weaker SSL protocols and ciphers, while also the increasing parameter size in the DH exchange. Lastly, the server-to-server database synchronisation has been optimized, therefore ensuring better performance and reliability.

Thank you for improving the Join page. Many of our customers have been confused about what to click on the hosted Join page: Join? Login? Connect? Others haven’t known where to type in the code since the field was unlabeled and did not have the hint: “Enter the session code.” The new design should eliminate confusion.
