Two months after the biggest release since 2010, we are rolling out the first update of the new generation remote desktop software, ISL Light 4. The update significantly improves screen sharing on Mac, brings enhancements that continue to make ISL Light easier to use, and improves productivity of your support activities. Beside hugely improved remote support service for Mac users, other highlights of this update include better remote keyboard matching, increased stability and security, while it also enhances user interface.
Here’s the recap: in November last year, ISL Light, the enterprise remote desktop support software, which empowers Konica Minolta, Raiffeisen bank, Ministry of Interior Slovenia, and over 200,000 businesses worldwide, introduced the best desktop sharing so far, ultrafast connections and a seamless design in the new version 4. The fourth generation enables users to connect in amazing two seconds and efficiently assist attended and unattended remote computers with IT issues through simple multiple session management. Nevertheless, as the version 4 didn’t come with the updated client part of the software, screen sharing and other features on Mac unfortunately lagged a bit behind Windows.
The main focus of the latest release, however, was to unify the software functionality for Windows and Mac OS X.
Synchronised functionality Windows – Mac
Most importantly and thanks to ISL Online diligent developers, ISL Light for Mac now works just like it does on Windows. Due to the release of the new end-user application ISL Light Client 4.0.1, the fourth generation enterprise remote support software for Mac OS X 10.8 or later is fully in sync with its Windows counterpart in terms of provided functionality, speed and performance level.
The benefits for Mac users? Since the Mac app has been synchronised with the Windows app, Mac users are doubtlessly the biggest winners of this release. To name but a few benefits, the connection starts in amazing two seconds, while screen sharing works so fast that one could easily watch a video shared on a remote computer. Operators can also effortlessly switch between different remote computers and thus efficiently assist multiple clients at the same time, while the operator’s and the client’s keyboard match almost perfectly.
Fast screen sharing
Among all functionality improvements, the biggest and the most obvious one is desktop sharing on a Mac. The update completely levels out the past difference in desktop sharing quality and speed between Windows and Mac computers running OS X 10.8 or later. Now, it works like a charm.

Improved user experience for Mac and Windows users
The update resolves over 40 fixes and brings other improvements that will even further make ISL Light easier to use, more secure and the service more stable. Besides an enhanced user interface, the applications download much faster, viewing a remote desktop full screen can be now initiated with the Ctrl + Esc and Shift + Alt + F shortcuts, chat messages have been restyled, and much more.

How to get the latest app – Mac
With all the benefits in place, Mac users in particular are recommended to update to the latest remote support software. Since the default download application for Mac clients published on the ‘Join’ webpage http://www.islonline.com/join has been upgraded to the latest (ISL Light Client 4.0.1), most clients will get the upgrade automatically. If they usually run the application saved to their computer, a manual download of the newest end-user application is required. Helpdesk operators working on a Mac, however, need to download ISL Light 4.0.1 manually or follow the application’s automatic updater when prompted.
How to get the latest app – Windows
Due to the so-called soft-landing, the default applications published on the web have not been replaced yet. Operators using Windows, therefore, need to manually download ISL Light 4, while clients can either try the new end-user application through the operator application or continue using the version 3 application. To see ISL Light Client 4’s progress, clients can open the app by running ISL Light 4, clicking on more options and selecting ‘Join a Session’.
Server License users are welcome to upgrade
Self-hosted (Server License) users are welcome to upgrade to the newest ISL Light 4.0.1.
